The turntable always stops sideways Comment: |

I have watched your video (most excellent!). You’ve set the house on the turntable in the approximate geometric center, and that is the right first step in finding the center of balance for your display. As you watch where the house comes to rest, slide the house on the turntable a fraction toward the high side (away from the rest position), and gently give it another spin. Each time it comes to rest, move it a bit more away from the rest position until each spin comes to rest in a random, different position, and so you can move the house to any place in its rotation and it will stay there … that’s the center of balance for the display and the turntable together and that’s where the turntable should be stabilized. When I am setting up a house and turntable and have found the center of balance, I slide the turntable/house to the edge of the table so I can mark the corners of the Turntable Deck on the bottom of the house without losing their position relative to each other, then I use double-sided tape or spots of glue to keep it there. I try to not overdo any glue between the turntable and house in case subsequent re-decorating or re-construction changes the balance enough to invite an adjustment, but that’s not something I expect to do routinely.Keeping the glue or tape at the edges makes eventual renewal easier and I have worked on enough multi-generational houses or on houses that get lighting added down the road to always have-in-mind access to the bottom of the house. |
