Victoria's Farmhouse AccessBay: Springy Hinges

I pre-stress the hinges in case the knuckles are too tight in manufacturing, which can sometimes cause a springy front.  The other cause is the screw heads bumping the edge of the Side.  If that looks likely I stretch the hinge by putting a spacer in the way of the screws and closing the Front against the spacer.  I may tap the barrel of the hinges lightly with a hammer a few times while the hinges are stretching to let the hinges know I really mean it.

I would try the spacer trick first and make sure it’s not the screw heads before taking out the hinges to test for tight knuckles.
