Make a gentle first cut following a straight edge, with the blade straight up-and-down. Make several cuts, each one with more pressure until you can feel the wood dragging on the side of the blade.
Don't cut toward your hand!
Make a cut in the waste area parallel with the straight cut, and with thhe blade tilted toward it. This is called a 'Clearing-Cut'.
Cut with a rocking motion (don't slice) at the edge so the knife doesn't slip or gouge the table when it gets there.
Repeat 'straight-cut' and 'clearing-cut' until you can lift out a ribbon of material.
Continue making straight and clearing cuts, and lifting out material until you have a "V" all the way to the other face of the Divider.
Continue around the cutout with straight and clearing cuts until all the lines have been cut.
Push the waste piece toward the 'V'-cut side to avoid tearing.
Carve and sand the edges of the cutout.
