Unfinished Models are intended to have some disassembly to prepare for painting. How much to remove is a choice which balances the time it takes to remove the things, and the quality of the sanding job after the first coat (the most important step for a quality paint job and sanding is easier when things aren't in the way). I always remove the railings and windows, and usually shutters too if the model has them. Depending on the complexity of the paint scheme I might remove gingerbread or porch facia, but on some builds I have chosen to take off everything - it's a balance between the time and the quality, and a simple paint scheme lets me get away with less disassembly. You will have to choose how far to go based on your plan, your available time, and how easily your hands can fit into small spaces for sanding.

Hot-melt glue was used for all the removable details to facilitate their removal. The links at right have more information.
